“PEACE AND RESPITE…”
My wife and I have spent a truly relaxing holiday time at BALKONI. Our expectations that were already running high on account of all the information on their website have been exceeded in terms of location, equipment, cleanliness of our holiday home and the owners’ friendliness throughout our stay. We felt at home straight away and obtained a lot of very useful information from the owners during pleasant chats with them.
We can highly recommend BALKONI to our friends any time. As experienced travellers to Greece, we can recommend the Pilion to all those who would like to spend a quiet holiday in wonderful Mediterranean scenery – far away from mass tourism with all its ghastly corresponding “blessings”. We wish to thank the owners of BALKONI for their warm welcome and hospitality during our stay. We are very much looking forward to returning there one day.

“A PERFECT HOLIDAY…”

We keep returning to BALKONI – it’s the third time now as we always have a fantastic time there. Those looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday won’t need to look any further – BALKONI is just the ticket! On the plot of land where the holiday home is located, only the BALKONI owners live there. They look after us in such an engaging, detail-oriented and sweet way every single time we visit them. They pay very helpful advice concerning excursions and shopping – just one example: we combed through the Volos roads in vain for half an hour looking for gluten-free diet bread. Our hosts bought it for us on the following day. Once again, many thanks! The rooms are very clean and tidy, equipped with everything one needs. The dishwasher and washing machine are real “helpers” after a long and lazy day. It’s just out of the world walking a few steps in one’s pyjamas in the morning hours, with a cup of coffee in hand, sitting on the terrace and happily gazing across the calm sea and dreaming. We will surely be coming back and, as before, bring friends with us who have enjoyed themselves here as well. Even the home-produced wine and olive oil alone would be worth returning to this magic place time and again – BALKONI - perfection!

“A SPLENDID HOLIDAY FOR BOTH CHILDREN AND PARENTS…”

We have spent our thoroughly enjoyable two-week-vacation in this holiday home. Its owners have been great hosts, for us and for our children (aged 4 and 6). BALKONI is very beautiful as far as its location, furnishing and equipment are concerned. We couldn’t have found a better place. The area is pleasantly quiet. The terrace offers a magnificent view across the sea. The Pilion is eye-catching – gorgeous beaches and very different from each other. There are several, nicely located tavernas offering good food, close to the local village Plateia. However, the well-equipped kitchen invites enjoyable cooking, or the stonewalled barbecue on the terrace is ideal for outside culinary feasts. We would love to return to BALKONI.

PERFECT HOLIDAY – PURELY IDYLLIC!

What an idyllic spot in such a wonderful area – the Pilion!
The positioning of BALKONI is slightly elevated – with a gorgeous view of the village of Afetes and across the sea. Its location could not be more beautiful. The peace and tranquillity was bliss amidst our hectic world which begs for the occasional escape. The furnishing of the house is very accommodating and way beyond normal standards, with a super-equipped kitchen with more than sufficient dishes, glasses, etc. It’s real fun cooking there or barbecuing on the cosy and shady terrace – with an ever-so-tasty drop of home-produced wine while seizing the day in the best possible circumstances. One can also dine well in the small local tavernas where a real culinary treat is guaranteed, thanks to our hosts’ fabulous recommendations. The owners, a married couple, are very supportive in every  respect. They have helped us enormously to be able to celebrate our silver anniversary in the most memorable and unique style. We arrived as strangers and departed as friends. A heart-felt thank you for everything and our warmest greetings to you two lovelies!

PURE RELAXATION

We nearly fogot at this point to thank Mr. and Mrs. Stotzka for our fantastic holiday in Pilion. BALKONI, on a beautiful and lovingly designed plot of land, is truly charming, and it has met all our expectations. We would especially like to thank our hosts for their warm welcome, their hospitality, their helpfulness and their many tips that have made our holiday so wonderful and relaxing. The time of year (beginning-mid May) and the lovely weather have made everything even more perfect. We will always associate the Pilion with the smell of mint, thyme, broom and a lot more. If we happen to return to this part of the world again, we will certainly return to the Stotzkas – with greatest pleasure!

PEACE, RELAXATION AND PURE NATURE

The information on the online-ad is an understatement and does not nearly match reality! The many tips from the owners have certainly contributed to our fabulous holiday. It is both almost impossible to list all the attractions that Pilion has got to offer and to explore everything within two weeks. Besides, the culinary delights and the excellent wine, produced by the hosts, are an added bonus. Thanks to our hosts for the nice evening in your home and for the delicious Tsipouro Meze we shared with the nice Greek couple.

IDEAL LOCATION WITH ALL COMFORT

Situated on the mountain slopes, with a magnificent view of the sea, one can listen to the cicadas on the front terrace and very often enjoy a gentle breeze. One sits below vines on the terrace at the house – amidst oleander shrubs. Charcoal and igniters are close at hand for a barbecue evening with friends. Unlike many other holiday homes, where the amount of glasses, cutlery and plates are counted to match the exact number of guests, the BALKONI offers a choice of different glasses, for wine in particular. Beer mugs in large volumes so that the dishwasher can be turned on frequently. The washing machine too has been used quite often – the rotary dryer is a very helpful companion.
The fridge was filled with drinks by us quickly – watch out, there is another one just below, and that one can take enough to quench the thirst in Greek midday heat. The always competent and never intrusive hosts looked after us well – with practical advice and assistance (e.g. if needed, a second table had been in situ the next moment). Technically, everything was perfect – the sun umbrella on the terrace, or the remote control for the entrance gate. All four of us have felt very comfortable, and we have used the house as a base for excursions to beaches in this area. Our tip: visit the east coast where the water is significantly fresher and clearer than in the Gulf of Volos. The chestnut forests of the Pilion are unique and on the village squares, the tavernas offer tasty local dishes under ancient plane trees. Those looking for a quiet place to relax, without wanting to make any  compromises on comfort issues – BALKONI is definitely the right place for you! Furthermore, its central location is an ideal base to explore the beautiful Pilion.
